Jessica
Partial Trisomy 16p+
For about 15 months I have been trying to find out why she has her delay. Then after her genetic testing, I found out. After meeting with my doctor I still don't know anything about the disorder. In one way I'm happy to know but I still don't really know.
UPDATE APRIL 2002
Jessica is doing well, she is now almost 6 years old. She attends a special ed. program in a wonderful school. She gets a lot of therapy, 5 days of speech, 3 days of pt and 3 days of OT. She also takes dance lessons one day a week to help her with her motor skills as well as her socialization skills. Jessica has about a 2 year delay but everyday surprises us with something new. She is a very happy child, that doesn't let her delays get in her way. When she wants something she usually finds a way to get it. We haven't had any medical problems with her since birth, besides her delay and quite a bit of ear infections. We hope one day she will catch up to her delays and be able to attend reg. school. She is the light of our life, you could be in the worse mood and she always manages to make you smile.
UPDATE JUNE 2004 UPDATE DECEMBER 2004

Jessica
is doing very well. she attends a life skills class within my district.
She gets integrated for lunch, gym, and music. This has proved to be
wonderful for Jessie. She gets OT, pt,and speech while in school. Since
she has been in this class she is now starting to write letters and
notice words on flash cards, We could not be any happier than we are
with what her school is doing for her( as her teachers and aides tell me
she is a big shot and everyone knows her by name). We have not come
across any medical problems except the tubes in her ears. Her last
physical in DEC,2004 she was on the scale for everything except height.
We are all so proud of her and she continues to bring us and everyone
that knows her joy and love that we can not explain. I have never met a
happier child!
